Who runs FitsInMyCar
A one-person site with a narrow promise: tell you whether a specific thing goes in a specific car, using measurements rather than opinions.
Why this site exists
I build small web tools and run online shops from the Czech Republic. The first version of this idea was a Czech site, kocarekdoauta.cz, built to answer one question parents kept asking in shops: will this pushchair fit in my car? The manufacturer's litre figure never answered it. The three measurements that do (depth, width between the wheel arches, height to the parcel shelf) were sitting in road-test data that nobody had put next to the folded sizes of the things people actually carry.
FitsInMyCar is the English version of that idea, widened from pushchairs to luggage, bikes, dog crates, flat-pack and appliances, and written so that it works whether you say boot or trunk, centimetres or inches.
Where the numbers come from
- Boot dimensions for all 69 cars come from km77.com, whose testers physically measure every car they road test. Each car page links to the exact measurement page and names the model year that was measured.
- Folded sizes of the 64 objects come from the manufacturer's own specification, linked from each object. Where a maker publishes a second, smaller fold, we hold that too and say when a verdict depends on it.
- Car seat grades for the 85 seats in the buying guide are the published results of ADAC's independent crash and pollutant tests, linked per seat.
We do not estimate. If a figure cannot be traced to a source, the car or object is not on the site. The method, including why every verdict is deliberately cautious, is on the how we measure page.
What we do not do
We do not rate how a pushchair feels to push, how a fabric wears or how a car drives, because we have not tested those things. Rankings on this site come from numbers we hold: folded volume, weight, how many measured boots an item fits, and independent test grades. Nothing here is generated by a language model; the verdicts are arithmetic on measured dimensions, and the text around them is written and checked by a person.
How the site makes money
Some retailer links are affiliate links. If you buy through one, the retailer may pay a small commission at no extra cost to you. Commission never changes an order or a verdict: the fit results are calculated from measurements, and the buying guides are sorted by measured size, weight or test grade, not by who pays. We do not run display advertising and we do not sell data.
Corrections
If a figure on this site is wrong, or a car you own measures differently from what we show, email roman@fitsinmycar.com with the car, the model year and what you measured. Corrections are checked against the source and fixed within a few days, and the note on the car page records the change.
If you would like a car or an object added, the same address works. We add cars only where a physical measurement exists and objects only where the maker publishes the packed size.
